Avenue J Quilts provides long arm quilting services @ $.02 per square inch. We supply our preferred batting @ $15 per yard, with king size batting needs at $22 per yard. We do not utilize customer provided batting, nor to we use any kind of blankets or fluffy polyester for the batting. This ensures the positive quilting results desired. Our preferred batting is 80% cotton/20% polyester blend. Small projects have a $50 charge per item.
All quilt tops need to be pressed and have all seams secured. Stay stitching around the entire quilt is required. If there is a need for additional pressing and/or stay stitching, we provide that service for an additional $25. Normal folding of your quilt top for shipping does not constitute extra pressing.
The quilt top and backing need to be squared off and as straight as possible. Overhanging/untrimmed fabric/seams on the backing is not acceptable, and must be trimmed prior to loading on the quilting machine. If the top or backing is NOT squared, and require trimming and stay stitching, we provide that service for $25.
All quilt backing needs to be 8 to 10 inches larger than the quilt top. This is necessary to ensure the best end to end results possible. If the quilt backing is not 8 inches larger than the quilt top, additional fabric will need to be added. AvenueJ Quilts will communicate with you if this is needed. Should you need AvenueJ Quilts to add temporary fabric (trimmed after quilting) on your backing there will be an additional $25 charge. Any backing that is smaller than the quilt top will necessitate a return to the customer without the quilting completed. Shipping charges to be paid by the customer. Stay stitching around the entire quilt backing is required.
Refrain from using sequins, rhinestones, denim or heavy embroidered items in your quilt. These can cause needle breakage on the long arm quilting machine, and can cause large holes to be punched through your quilt. AvenueJ Quilts is not responsible for this damage and your quilt may be shipped back to you without the quilting completed. Shipping charges to be paid by the customer.
Additional guidance for your quilt top to be quilted successfully include, but not limited to:
- no oversized seams (1/4" generally for the quilt top, with up to 1/2" seams used on pieced backings. Uneven seams result in your quilt to not lay flat, and could result in quilt stitch puckers.
- no twisted seams (large twisted seams create unnecessary bulk and can break needles). An occasional 1/4" twisted seam is not an issue normally; however, can cause extra bulk you may not like with the finished quilt.
- no memory quilt seams that contain original hems/plackets from clothing/shirts.
- no jeans seams or hems.
- no buttons or bling. These items may be reattached after the quilting process.
- no 3D items on the quilt tops.
- no netting, lace or embroidered doilies.
Should anything included in your quilt, visible or hidden in seams cause needle breakage, and a retiming of the quilting machine, there will be an automatic $350 charge for retiming of the machine, plus any charges for needed parts.
While we will do everything to prevent any damage to your quilt, accidental damage can happen unexpectedly. Should this occur, AvenueJ Quilts will communicate this to you. AvenueJ Quilts is not liable for any damage from the quilting process.
Your quilting will be done in a smoke free, cat free environment if there are any allergy concerns.
